Ever since I nearly started a thesis on adult ADHD (nearly….it’s a long story…), adult ADHD has been a particular interest of mine. Likely this came on the back of completing ADHD assessments for children in an NHS children’s service prior to doctoral training. Although I do not currently offer ADHD assessments I do offer treatment for adult ADHD.
Adult ADHD Interventions
Adult ADHD interventions includes psychosocial interventions and developing a greater understanding of how Adult ADHD affects you. Whilst ADHD cannot be cured, we can utilise compensatory strategies to specifically help difficulties caused by ADHD. Although there are commonalities between adults with ADHD, there are differences. For example, some people with ADHD struggle a lot with time-blindness (e.g., often estimating activities will take far less time than they do), whereas some struggle with organisation and some with planning. These are just three difficulties of a wide set of symptoms. The aim in the intervention stage is to:
- help you understand the ADHD difficulties specific to you
- help you understand how these difficulties affect your life
- bring in strategies you can bring in to help compensate and manage these difficulties
These appointments are, like most appointments, 50 minutes and for simplicity, priced at the same rate as other 50 minute appointments.
