The Guildford Psychologist

23.03.20 COVID-19

Firstly, I just want to say I hope you and your loved ones are well at this difficult time. Over the last week, I’ve been trying to think of things I can post on this site that I hope will help you manage this tricky period.

Speaking to clients and colleagues there seem to be some common questions, and I’ll try to cover these in individual blog posts. The first blog will focus on ways to maintain our wellbeing. Over the next few days though, I’ll write further posts on ways of coping with difficult thoughts and feelings that may naturally come up at this time. I’ll also do a special section on managing loneliness. You can find the posts using the links at the bottom of this page (on a mobile) or down the side of this page (on a tablet/laptop/desktop) – all the posts are under ‘March 2020’.

As always please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions. My clinic is still open for video appointments and I’d be happy to help you.

Stay safe,

Hello, welcome to my website. My name is Ben and I am a Clinical Psychologist, Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) and Counsellor practising in Guildford, Surrey. I also offer secure, encrypted video calls. My aim is to help those who are struggling with low mood, anxiety and relationship difficulties / break-ups.

I tailor treatment to you: although I specialise in using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), I also incorporate Counselling approaches, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Eye Movement Densensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). We will work together to find the treatment best suited to you and your goals.

My extensive training and experience ensures I am able to help with a number of difficulties, including (but not limited to):

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Low self-esteem
  • Loneliness
  • Grief / Loss
  • Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Post-traumatic stress (PTSD)
  • Relationship difficulties (including break-ups)
  • Social anxiety
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Work / exam stress

I typically practise out of a calm and peaceful therapy room at the Shere GP Surgery on the edge of Guildford. However, in these difficult times, the vast majority of my appointments are over video call. These are secure, AES 256-bit encrypted video calls over a Virtual Private Network (VPN) so you can be assured your appointment remains private. Any queries about what this means, please just ask! I’m also offering a small number of appointments in central Guildford where appropriate.

I hope you’ll find this website useful when choosing the right therapist for you or your child. If you have any questions about whether I could help you, or about the clinic, please feel free to contact me.
